Update (7:30 p.m. EST): On Thursday night, Washington, D.C. area rapper and Rick Ross collaborator Fat Trel claimed that he had recently spoken to Ross, who is doing "good" and is "not on life support."

Rick Ross has been hospitalized after suffering possible cardiac issues that resulted in him becoming unresponsive.

TMZ reports that the rapper is currently in a Miami area hospital, being treated for heart- and lung-related issues in the cardiac unit. Ross is supposedly hooked up to an ECMO, or extracorporeal membrane oxygenation machine, which helps oxygenate and pump blood throughout the body, a source told the tabloid.

Ross was first rushed to the hospital early Thursday morning (March 1) after a 911 caller reported that the artist was unconscious and "slobbing at the mouth," TMZ shares.

According to the site, "someone from the home called 911 at 3:30 a.m. Thursday" to report that Ross was "in distress, breathing heavy and unresponsive" to attempts to wake him up.

It was originally believed Ross might be suffering from pneumonia.
