More than 1,000 students from Washington and Oregon involved in what's called First Washington will be in Yakima this coming weekend (March 16-17) for a big robotics competition. First Washington is a nonprofit organization offering free mentor-based, after-school programs.
The high-energy, competition is this Friday and Saturday in the Yakima Valley SunDome. Top teams from the competition will advance to the Pacific Northwest First championship April 5-7 in Portland, where they will compete against teams from across the Pacific Northwest. Officials say 31 teams have been preparing for the competition since January.
The event is free and open to the public. Friday's show runs from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. And Saturday you can enjoy the competition from 8-5.
