Shia LaBeouf’s “He Will Not Divide Us” project — a mission to speak out against President Donald Trump‘s hateful rhetoric — has, itself, come undone.

LaBeouf’s livestream installation, erected outside of New York City’s Museum of the Moving Image on Trump’s inauguration day (January 20), has invited passersby to look into a camera and declare “He will not divide us.” The project started innocently enough, and drew peaceful crowds who stood in solidarity, but quickly became a left vs. right battleground that attracted even Nazi sympathizers.

As of today (February 10), the museum has officially decided to shut it down, noting it has officially put employees and neighbors at risk, according to People.

“The installation created a serious and ongoing public safety hazard for the museum, its visitors, its staff, local residents and businesses,” a statement reads. “While the installation began constructively, it deteriorated markedly after one of the artists was arrested at the site of the installation and ultimately necessitated this action.”

LaBeouf first unveiled “He Will Not Divide Us” as an attempt at peaceful resistance, according to movement’s website.

“…the mantra ‘HE WILL NOT DIVIDE US’ acts as a show of resistance or insistence, opposition or optimism, guided by the spirit of each individual participant and the community,” the site’s mission statement reads.
