It's (probably) going to happen now that Seattle has officially approving a new upgrade for the aging Key Arena.

The NHL and the NBA are both anticipating an entry into the Northwest's largest media market.

The Seattle city council voted 7-1 to approve a "Memorandum of Understanding" between the city and a Los Angeles-based company, Oak View Group.

City officials said this week the group would work to complete the renovation of Key Arena by October 2020, in time to launch an NHL team for the 2020-21 season.

Of course, having a team with a name that people here in the Northwest will embrace is another.
