Super Mario Bros., Tetris, Pac-Man and More to be Inducted to the Video Game Hall of Fame Class of 2015

As someone who grew up playing video games I was wondering when there was going to be a video game hall of fame and now, thanks to The Strong: Musesum of Play in New York, now there is. Introducing the World Video Game Hall of Fame class of 2015.

Each game that made the list has right and reason to make it to the hall of fame.

Pong
Pong was the one that kind of started it all. Bars saw an increase in sales just by having a Pong unit on location. My dad used to play in a band and he said one of his band mates could wait to play Pong any moment he could.

Pac-Man
In the early 80s, everyone had Pac-Man fever. It crossed genres and became a marketing machine from cartoons to breakfast cereal to toys, Pac-Man was everywhere and there are still making variations of Pac-Man today.

Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario Bros. brought video games, that were on the decline in the early to mid-80s, and back to the promiseland. Super Mario Bros. came equipped with the Nintendo Entertainment System to give a more full arcade experience at home.

Tetris
Tetris, to put in my own words, was a game my elderly mother could play. My mom, who didn't care for video games, could play Tetris. There are world Tetris championships and it came with the Game Boy when that system was launched boosting sales of one of the first popular hand-held systems.

Doom
Doom wasn't the first in the first-person shooter genre, but it's certainly one of the ones that make that style of game famous. It's controversial images with signs of satanism and devil-type stuff makes it one game any gamer is familiar with.

World of Warcraft
When it comes to MMO (massively multiplayer online) video games, World of Warcraft wasn't just a video game to many. Some have basically lived separate lives in this video game universe. They've made real-life friends in this game and romantic partners that ended up in real marriages. This is one of those video games that bridge fantasy and reality. Very dangerous to get involved it if you don't know how to quit it, but it's worthy of being inducted by its nature.
