T.I. is currently mourning the loss of a friend following the tragic shooting that occurred at New York’s Irving Plaza venue on Wednesday (May 25). The Atlanta rhymer went on his Instagram account to pay respects to a young man who lost his life in a senseless act of violence.

As we previously reported, Ronald McPhatter (aka BSB Banga) was fatally shot and killed during a gun battle backstage at the venue. Three others were also wounded and taken to nearby hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. All of this happened before Tip was supposed to get on stage to perform.

Neither T.I. or any members of his crew were involved in the shooting. Nevertheless, the loss of life has weighed heavy on the Hustle Gang leader’s shoulders.

In his Instagram post, he wrote, "My heart is heavy today. Our music is intended to save lives, like it has mine and many others. My heartfelt condolences to the family that suffered the loss and my prayers are with all those injured. Respectfully, Tip."

NYPD detectives say the investigation is still ongoing. According to reports, police recovered five gun shell casings inside Irving Plaza near the green room where dozens of VIP guests were caught in the crossfire of two warring factions tied to rappers who were performing at the club.

We want to send our heartfelt condolences to the family of Ronald McPhatter and wish those who were injured a speedy recovery.
