It looks as though Katy Perry is still on that disastrous trip-to-nowhere known as dating John Mayer. The on-again, off-again, on-again couple were spotted out on Tuesday night dining in New York City for Mayer's 35th birthday.
But anyone expecting drunken antics or a messy public break-up was sadly disappointed.
John Mayer once referred to his ex Taylor Swift writing about their relationship and their split in a song as “cheap songwriting” but we’re going to call his method of dumping Katy Perry (after a very short and public romance) a cheap move.
Mayer reportedly broke up with the ‘Wide Awake’ singer via email.

Uh oh. There has been a crushing setback for singer John Mayer. Just when things seemed to be cooking for him, with a new album and tour on the immediate horizon, the active-on-social-media guitarist took to his personal Tumblr to reveal some bad news. Mayer visited his throat doctor on Wednesday (March 7) since “something didn’t feel/sound right” during rehearsals on Tuesday (March 6.) It was a bad omen that revealed a big problem.
He had to take a break from working on his new music while he recovered from throat surgery, but John Mayer is on the mend — and he’s close enough to the finish line that he’s ready to start sharing clips from his upcoming album, ‘Born and Raised,’ starting with just over a minute from the first single, ‘Shadow Days.’
