Bruno Mars is facing litigation over his smash hit, "Uptown Funk."

The lawsuit has been issued against the crooner by 1970s rap trio The Sequence, reports TMZ. They claim Mars and producer Mark Ronson ripped off their 1979 single, "Funk You Up" for the Grammy-winning smash. "Funk You Up," was popular in its day being only the third hip-hop record to land on the Billboard Top 50 Singles chart. The Sequence, who have the status as the first female group signed to the famed Sugar Hill Records, claim Mars' track has, "significant and substantially similar compositional elements" to the song in question. "Funk You Up" followed up the Sugar Hill Gang's "Rapper's Delight," and both songs have similar elements as well.

The group is seeking monetary damages from both Mars and Ronson, who penned and produced the record.

The Sequence, which was made up of Angie Stone, Cheryl the Pearl and Blondy, first made the accusations back in February of 2016. Now, they will let the courts figure it out.

This isn't the first time Mars has come under fire for the track. In May of 2015, 1970s funk group The Gap Band issued a claim on the track, alleging that "Uptown Funk" uses melodies and samples from the group's song, "Oops Upside Your Head." As a result, they were added as writers for the song.
