The Weeknd is set to perform on Saturday Night Live next month on Oct. 1. The late-night sketch comedy show made the announcement today (Sept. 22).

"SNL is back next weeknd!," SNL said in a clever tweet announcing the R&B sensation as musical guest. Abel will be joined by actress Margot Robbie as featured host.

Weeknd announced his fourth studio album Starboy earlier this week and dropped the lead single off the LP just yesterday featuring Daft Punk.

Last August, Weeknd dropped Beauty Behind the Madness, his most pop-oriented album of his career to date and ended up scoring big. Fueled by hits like "Often", "The Hills" and "Can't Feel My Face," Beauty Behind the Madness peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and is currently three times platinum.

The 26-year-old Toronto native is following in the footsteps of a fellow Canadian in the rap game. Drake was the last rapper to perform on Saturday night live back in May of this year. Still riding high off his Views album, Drizzy not only performed "One Dance" and "Hype," he also hosted for the second time.

The Weeknd was set to headline Day 1 of The first-ever Meadows Festival in Queens, N.Y. on the same day as his SNL performance, but the crooner announced he had to change his set to 6:15 in lieu of the new gig—because who turns down performing at SNL? J. Cole will now be Saturday's new headliner.
