I recently attended PAX in Seattle which showcases the latest in video games and features many independent games looking for exposure. This game caught my eye immediately as it brought me back to the days of Maniac Mansion, Monkey Island and many other point n' click style adventure games that Lucas Arts was known for.

Thimbleweed Park has the look and design that I miss. They're smart where they didn't change anything and didn't have to. If you're unfamiliar with this style, you maybe explore each area looking for clues and items in your quest. You might find a broken lever, for instance. Maybe in another room you find a broom stick. Then you use the broom stick on the broken lever to make it activate. There's always a lot of great writing and comedy in these type of games, too. I appreciate that.

Although this isn't from Lucas Arts, it's Terrible Toybox, is still carries that same style and comedy. There are five playable characters and, best of all, you play at your own pace. You're not under a timer or anything, you just do things as leisurely as you'd like. They also promise a joke ever two minutes. I'm looking forward to seeing how that pans out.

This game is slated for an early 2017 release on on Mac, PC, Xbox One and even mobile on iOS and Android. Out of all the games I checked out at PAX, this is definitely in my top 5 games I'm looking forward to.
