With summer fast approaching you have to start thinking of things to get your kids out of the house and enjoy life. Although there may be several events that cater to the over 21 crowd, what can you do in Yakima if you're under 21? The answer is plenty!

Get a Job
When in doubt, get a job. Not just because you need a job, but because you'll make your own money, learn life skills that will help you in the future and it'll be nice to put a reputable name on a resume for future jobs. If you need help, check out some great summer jobs for teens in Yakima.
But, also, because you need a job.

Go Swimming
There are plenty of places to go swimming in Yakima. A great way to cool off and get some exercise. Check out some great swimming spots in Yakima.

Go For a Walk
I don't care how much you've driven or jogged around Yakima, surely there's a road or street you haven't visited, yet. It took me until I was about 23 for someone to take me down Linden Way. I've driven by it thousands of times, but never actually driven down that road just off Summitview where the entire road is canopied by trees like a storybook setting. If you need something to do, just walk aimlessly and see where it leads you.

Start a YouTube Channel
It's a fun way to have a creative outlet while learning about video editing and, who knows, maybe you'll become famous! Best of all, it's free to upload videos to YouTube. It can be anything from a tutorial to just a daily video journal of your life.

Start a Band
Another creative outlet is to get some friends together and join a band. Or, if you can play and are looking for others, Craigslist is a haven for start-up bands who are looking for that one last piece to their puzzle. If you know how to play an instrument, why not start a band?

and, if you don't know how to play an instrument,

Learn a Musical Instrument

Playing a musical instrument is one of those notions of art that you can do with it as you will. Whether it's blowing off steam banging drums or trying to impress someone or you're just wanting to play for fun, learning an instrument is easier than ever. Sure, you can take lessons from a professional in town but if you can't do it, financially, they have plenty of lessons on YouTube for just about any instrument you can think of.

Bowling / Roller Skating
We have these great establishments in our town, why not take advantage of them? We have a few bowling lanes to choose from, though you might call ahead to make sure it's not a league night or something where all lanes are in use. There's also Skateland where you can strap on some roller skates and hit the rink. Some cities don't even have a roller skating rink anymore, we should only be so lucky!

That's only a small list of things you can do in Yakima if you're under 21. What else can you add to the list? Post them in the comments below.
