Forbes recently came out with a list of the best colleges in every state. Naturally, I wanted to see what Washington state had in store. I've gotta admit, I was a little surprised, but maybe I shouldn't have been.

Washington's Best College: Whitman College

When I thought of the possibilities, I started thinking of University of Washington or WSU. Then I thought maybe it could be CWU based on other criteria such as how affordable it is. Then I saw Whitman College and figured it kind of make sense.

Never mind being a school on the other side of the state, you'll find Whitman in Walla Walla and it offers a variety of great programs. Though it's a private liberal arts school, 83 percent of freshmen receive grants for around $20,000. Not too shabby!

It's a great school if you wanted to use that for your ticket to travel as they offer programs to study abroad and, on campus, they have houses for French, German, Spanish and Japanese speakers. A great way to learn via language immersion.

So there you have it. Whitman College is the best college in Washington state. Do you agree or disagree?
