Trey Songz was the perfect choice to sing a musical tribute to Usher, who received the 2015 BET Honors Musical Arts Award Monday night (Feb. 23).

Before singing a cover of Usher's classic 1998 single, "Nice & Slow," Trey thanked the veteran crooner for paving the way for young singers like him. The song was clearly an influential tune for Trey on the come-up. Now, he's the go-to guy for similar hot-and-heavy numbers.

Performing under dim lights to help set the mood, Trey wasted no time moving right into the flow of the song, singing the famed opening line, "It's 7 o'clock on the dot, I'm in my drop-top cruising the streets." Those words all but made every ladies' heart drop within a two-mile radius.

Dressed to the nines, the singer was in lady killer mode from jump. His performance may not stack up to the original, but Trey gave an admirable effort and Usher -- judging from the look of approval on his face during the performance -- seemed to agree. If Trey Songz can keep it up for another 10 years, he could possibly receive a tribute just like this one.
