Games and fashion will soon collide in the best way as Uniqlo is bringing a whole range of T-shirts bearing the familiar and iconic faces of Nintendo to retail.

The annual Uniqlo Grand Prix, in which would-be designers are welcomed to fashion new T-shirt designs based on a given license or topic, has finally come to a close. This year, 25 different designs with a Nintendo theme were chosen by famed game design icon Shigeru Miyamoto, all of which will be available at Uniqlo later this month.

Though only the top two winners received substantial cash prizes (First place got $10,000 and second place got $3,000. Both got Miyamoto autographed Nintendo Switch consoles), the remaining 23 entrants got $500 each. The first place winner (the Mario shirt below) also got to attend a special award ceremony with Miyamoto.

The main T-shirt certainly has a strong design, and its reliance on Mario makes it less of a surprise why Miyamoto chose it as the winner. As such, it will also be available in men, women and kid sizes at Uniqlo's stores. That's sadly not the case for all the shirts, with a number restricted to just one or two of the sizing categories.

Don't get us wrong; that Splatoon shirt is very cool. That The Legend of Zelda design is only for kids though is kind of a bummer. You'd figure all three of the top choices would make it for any size, but Uniqlo had other plans. At least the rest of the shirts are also pretty dang sweet.

Thankfully, this Donkey Kong shirt is coming in adult sizes. For our money, this is the best design because Donkey Kong is the best, and the way it replicates the level design from the arcade classic is perfect.

As one of the Super Mario Bros. series most delightful enemies, we have a feeling this Boo shirt is going to be very popular. The design features the classic ghost making a range of faces you might recall from your encounters with the spirit in the games. It's also heckin' cute.

Just a simply lovely design with Mario and Luigi poking their heads out of a warp pipe pocket. The colors are great, and it's a subtle nod that works tremendously well.

Now this shirt has some promise, but it's really hard to make out what exactly Peach is saying in her quote. The only words we can even make out are "for help" at the end. The pop art style is attractive, but it's really going to come down to whether or not that quote is enough to put this in our carts in a few weeks.

You can check out more designs in the video below, and over on Uniqlo's website. The UTGP '17 x Nintendo collection will be available at Uniqlo retail locations and online starting on May 19, 2017.
