West Coast League Baseball Coming To Yakima In 2014
Pacific Baseball Ventures, a sports entertainment company which features former Seattle Mariner and M.L.B. All-Star Jeff Cirillo as a member, announced today that they have been awarded a West Coast League Membership in Yakima. The soon-to-be-named team will begin play in 2014. The same group currently operates the Walla Walla Sweets of the same league.
“The West Coast League is extremely excited about this new opportunity in Yakima,” said WCL Vice-President Eddie Poplawski, a member of the WCL’s Executive Committee. “We believe that the passion for baseball in Yakima coupled with the market’s central location within the league’s footprint are key ingredients for enabling PBV to create a fun, family-friendly environment at Yakima County Stadium for many summers to come.”
According to their website, “the West Coast League is The Diamond Standard of summer wood-bat collegiate baseball. Based in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, the league is a developing ground for aspiring professional baseball players and provides an affordable, wholesome, family-oriented entertainment alternative for its member communities. The eleven-team league extends from Kelowna, British Columbia to Klamath Falls, Oregon. For more information about the WCL, please visit www.westcoastleague.com.“
