Beer, glorious beer! When I was growing up it seemed Yakima was all about its popular wine country and beer was reserved for the common drinkers. The Northwest's own Rainier beer was advertised heavily. Beer was rising in popularity, thanks to our ever-present hops agriculture and the news did a story on it back in 1984. These are my kind of people.

They interview brewmasters from Thomas Kemper (the company still makes sodas) and even the good folks at Seattle's Red Hook brewing company.

Nowadays, stories like this aren't so special as new breweries are opening all the time, but it was cool to see things go from 1984 to what we have now.

As a bonus, here's an iconic commercial for Rainier Beer from the '80s. Remember this?
