What’s Up with All the Black Strips on Yakima Streets?

If you've driven anywhere in Yakima for the past couple of days, no doubt you've passed over these black cords that are in sets of two. Are they tracking your movements? Are they trying to catch you speeding? I assure you, it's not that bad.

It's just the city of Yakima doing some street surveying to see what roads are being used and how often. They'll use the stats from all the cars driving over these to see what roads are being traveled the most and what roads they need to pay more attention to.

On that note, if you see a set on a road you're on often enough that could use some extra attention, make sure you get all your friends to drive over these strips as often as possible. Maybe the city will pay more attention to it and give it the love it deserves.
