If you head just one block north of Nob Hill Boulevard you'll be on Bonnie Doon. It's a street I'm extremely familiar with as it was the street I grew up on. For years I wondered who Bonnie Doon was. I figure she was a great astronaut or maybe she lived in Yakima in the early 1900s and they decided to name a street after her. Well, after some quick research, I can rest easy.

I finally figured it out.

It turns out Bonnie Doon isn't a who, but a what.

Via Bonnie Doon, Edmonton Wiki:

Bonnie Doon takes its name from the Scottish for “pleasant, rolling countryside,” and was named in 1912 in honour of Canadian-born Premier Alexander Cameron Rutherford of Scottish descent who owned a portion of the land east of Mill Creek.

Although there are a few Bonnie Doons in the world from this neighborhood in Canada to an ice cream brand, I'll also know Bonnie Doon as the street I'd spend many years of my life shoveling when it snowed.
