This year's Franz Day is Monday, September 26. Many might simply call it 'wristband day' but you'll hear a few call is Snyder's Day. Why is that?

It's because before we had Franz Bakery, we had Snyder's Bakery.

For years when I was growing up, Snyder's Day was a day you could get unlimited ride wristbands and admission for a discount if you brought in a tab or bread bag or something from Snyder's Bakery. Also, growing up, the Yakima School District would give kids the day off knowing most parents may just take their kids to the fair that day in lieu of dropping them off at school. Of course the school district used to call it 'teacher day' or something like that, but we know the real reason.

But don't actually do that this year because that was in the 80s.

Now, with Snyder's gone and Franz at the helm, Franz Day carries the tradition of discounted admission and unlimited rides for a humble price. Totally worth doing once a year.
