It's not on many restaurant menus and maybe more commonly found on menus in pubs or wineries. It's sometimes called a wine plate or a fruit and cheese plate. Basically, it's a sampler that often contains varieties of fruit, cheese, bread, nuts and even sometimes meat. Why don't more restaurants have this? I think I know the answer.

I bet many places opt not to carry this because they're a pain in the backside to make.

I tried making my own the other day and the process took far longer than I had anticipated. It was a lot of work for what I got out of it. Of course the final product was very enjoyable but by that time I would've just opted to make a cheeseburger and call it good.
