This quirky, yet simple and effective PTA fundraising campaign tries for an alternative approach to raising funds for school functions and features.

This is an actual letter that was sent home to parents from a school in Dee Wise Heinz's town. She thought it was clever enough to post to her personal Facebook page and, from there, people started sharing it around.

Me, personally, I'm all for this. Our local schools do various fundraisers and if you're like me you usually buy something out of courtesy. Yeah, I know, $6 is a lot for a box of chocolates, but it's for a great cause and I'm all for our public school system since I was raised with both of my parents working for the Yakima School District.

What do you think? Do you think something like this should be a viable means of fundraising in Yakima or anywhere? I think it's clever enough that it just may work and schools may even see more proceeds from it.
