This weekend, I attended a beautiful wedding where I was the DJ. One of the younger wedding guests -- who shall remain nameless -- asked me to play "something funky that we can get down and funky to." I asked him what kind of songs he considered "funky." He replied, "You know what I mean. Like 'The Twist' (by Chubby Checker). You know, something funky!"

I did a double take and could swear I heard a record scratch.

Since when did "The Twist" become "funk music?" To me, funky music is like '70s or '80s disco or artists like the Gap Band or Earth, Wind and Fire. Not Chubby Checker.

"The Twist" is not funky! LMAO!

When you think of funky music, what songs do you think of?
