If your vehicle needs car repairs, consider letting Yakima Valley Community College’s Automotive Service Technology (AST) Program students do the work. Students gain real world professional experience by working on customers vehicles.

Yakima Valley Community College’s Automotive Service Technology (AST) Program provides hands-on training to prepare students for employment in the automotive repair industry.

Repair work typically coincides with course subjects for the quarter.

Fall: engines and drivability.

Winter: electrical and automatic transmissions.

Spring: brakes, suspension, manual transmission, and heating and air conditioning.

Customers do not pay an hourly labor charge; but are required to pay for the cost of parts and a $30 service fee. All student work is supervised by YVCC instructors who are Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified. In addition, students perform a multi-point safety inspection on the vehicle and can perform preventative maintenance including: transmission flush, fuel systems cleaning, induction cleaning, oil leaks, coolant, and brake fluid flushes. Customers are asked to leave their vehicle while the repair work is done as students are only available to work on the vehicle during regular scheduled class time. Vehicles must be 1996 or newer.
