Two Yakima smoke shops were served with search warrants and six people were arrested Thursday in the culmination of an 18-month investigation into the sale of synthetic drugs.

Yakima Police Chief Dominic Rizzi said the warrants were executed at Smokeits, 2308 S. First St., and One Love at 1103 S. 24th Ave.

The Yakima Police Department had received numerous complaints regarding the sale of synthetic drugs at the two establishments. The YPD, along with agents from the Drug Enforcement Agency, Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, and the U.S. Marshal's service closed the two stores Thursday.

The investigation into the sale of the synthetic drugs will continue.

The six arrested in the raids are scheduled to appear in United States District Court in Yakima at 9 a.m. Friday.
