I was in Portland over the weekend. Portland has no lack of options when it comes to places to eat, both indoor, outdoor and their fabulous food trucks, but when I'm thinking about going out for breakfast there's only one place that's on my mind. After you visit there, yourself, it'll be top of your mind, too.

This place is called Gravy. You can find Gravy on Mississippi Ave. in Portland.

I went there for the first time with a couple of friends back in October of last year. I've been waiting oh-so-patiently to make my return to try other items on the menu. It was worth the wait.

Let's start with the french toast. This may as well be a loaf of bread.

Not just chicken fried steak, but this is such a thick cut that it's served medium rare (or to your liking). I never once though a chicken fried steak could be medium rare but here we are.

If you have kids, no worries. They also have fun items like these banana chocolate chip pancakes.

Their Monte Cristo is served open face and that's fine by me as there's no way I could eat this in sandwich-form.

And one of the items they pride themselves on is their oatmeal. You wouldn't think much of going out to eat and just getting something you can make at home so easily but their oatmeal is out of this world. This one happens to be their banana and pecan with an almost toasted 'creme brule' style sugar gloss on top. Amazing.

LOOK: Best Beers From Every State

To find the best beer in each state and Washington D.C., Stacker analyzed January 2020 data from BeerAdvocate, a website that gathers user scores for beer in real-time. BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery. Keep reading to find out what the best beer is in each of the 50 states and Washington D.C.
