The old Nintendo system that came out in the '80s (NES) is still very popular today. Fan groups and sites keep that system alive by creating new games for it, even today. Although I don't know how to program Nintendo games, I can edit them to feature my friends and family who play on Nintendo systems. I offered to help a regional video game convention make a game they could sell for a local charity. Here's a look at that game, 'Blow'em Out for CJAC'

The game came from another 'homebrew' game (homebrew, meaning a game that was made by a small team of people in their house, not at a big video game company) called 'Blow'em Out.' The idea is you choose from the boy or girl and blow out candles on a larger-than-life cake. It's really fun!

With their permission, I changed the graphics so the boy and girl were the event organizer, John Hancock, and his daughter, Kaylee, riding their cat, Princess.

I changed a few other things in the game, too, but the core of the game is still intact.

They're going to sell these games exclusively at the Cowlitz Gamers for Kids expo in Longview, where 100 percent of the proceeds go to their local CJAC -- Children's Justice and Advocacy Center.
