Rik Mikals

I’ve been up and down the radio dial as the famous "WKRP" line goes. I started right out of high school in 1988 in my hometown of Clarkston, Wash., at KCLK – a country station -- and from there moved all over Idaho, Montana, California and Washington state at various radio stations. I was on KMPS in Seattle in the 1990s and moved to Yakima in 1998 as program director of KFFM. I moved again and again until I was in Bakersfield, Calif,, and then Tri-Cities, and then back to Yakima, and again to Tri-Cities and more! I bought a farm in Prosser a few years back with my wife Megan, and we have three great dogs named Phoebe, Barkley and Roxy. My son is an aspiring musician and plays, performs and writes original music. I also have a stepson named Kyran. I’m known for having a never-ending knowledge of pop culture and easily get addicted to TV reality shows. I love "Star Trek," Mustangs (the car) and '80s music. I’m a huge comic book fan, having a comic collection easily totaling more than 6,000 comics.

Yakima Castaway Talks About Her ‘Survivor’ Experience On the Eve of Show’s Premiere [VIDEO]

If you've been living on, say, a deserted island and have never had any reason to watch CBS's "Survivor," this might be your year.

Pow! Bam! Zap! Rik’s Tribute To Adam West

The definitive voice for a generation of Batman fans is Adam West. I grew up watching the 1960s "Batman" TV series long before Michael Keaton's Batman hit the big screen in 1989. It is hard to imagine that at one time Adam West struggled to find work as a serious actor after his "Batman" days. I salute Adam West today (Sept. 19) on his 88th birthday.

I Paid Someone to Blog For Me and It Cost Me $25 — and My Pride

I'm one of those folks who thinks he's pretty clever ... most of the time.

I have to do daily postings on our radio station website as part of the new era of radio broadcasting. I actually enjoy the exercise, but occasionally I get stumped on what to write about and or what might be amusing for you to read. I thought long and hard and I couldn't think of one thing to write about it until it hit me -- as all great ideas do.-- like the apple falling from the tree.

I would hire someone to write my blogs!

Things I Learned Going To Court In Prosser

I was off the show yesterday because I had to go to court in Prosser.

I had gotten a speeding ticket at the end of last month on the river road outside of Prosser. The Prosser Police have a little speed trap along the Yakima river and it was my own fault because I knew the Police would be sitting there waiting. I did decide to go to court and mitigate the ticket and I learned a few things in the process.

UBER is coming to Kennewick with potential UBER drivers having to register as Taxi Drivers. It's been a long drawn out process to bring the super popular service back to the Tri-Cities after a year of negotiations.
