Prior to yesterday's home opener for the Minnesota Twins, Seattle Mariners starting pitcher James Paxton - a native of Canada nicknamed "Big Maple" - was the target of an American Bald Eagle that may have taken umbrage to a foreigner on the diamond of America's National Pastime.

During the pregame pageantry and the singing of the "Star-Spangled Banner", the eagle was released by its handler tin order to make a majestic entrance to the delight of the crowd in attendance. Instead, the eagle went off script and perched itself on the right shoulder of the left-handed throwing Paxton.
