Right after the first day of kindergarten, I discovered that my 5-year old daughter, Willow, has developed an eye condition that causes her to cross both of her eyes. I rushed her to the optometrist and was shocked to hear his diagnosis: Willow's brain is having trouble ordering her eyes to focus near AND far. Poor thing. The eye doctor suggested that she wear some high prescription eyeglasses for
With school starting up again soon, my wife and I talked about doing one last thing while we could. For an impromptu trip out of town, we decided to surprise our kids with a trip to Seattle.
Parents who have kids about to start school in the Yakima School District might not know about this, so keep reading -- you will save yourself a lot of time and money buying unnecessary food. Use my experience as a cautionary tale!
My daughter Willow is entering kindergarten in a couple of weeks, so I am furiously trying to get prepared for her first year of elementary school...
If you’ve missed out on previous Festival In The Parking Lot events put on by Yakima Neighborhood Health Services, then this is your week (in honor of National Health Center Week).

We don't know about you, but the mere thought of going back-to-school shopping makes us shake our heads and roll our eyes. For some of us parents, buying all of those supplies for back-to-school is pretty spendy, and the chunk of dough that we crank out during back-to-school time makes our wallets cry out in pain...

We have quite a few high schools in the 107.3 KFFM listening area, from the Upper to Lower Valley, from Selah to Prosser...
I got the blues. The "Back to Work Blues." I have "*Janxiety."
This morning, when I returned to work after a lovely Christmas, Festivus, Kwanzaa and New Year's Eve break, I just felt so down and depressed.
