Common has teamed up with The National Symphony for a special performance at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

Along with the assistance of Principal Pops Conductor Steven Reineke, the Chicago rhymer will perform classic songs from his discography with the National Symphony Orchestra backing him. Common will also rap songs from his latest project, 2016s Black America Again.

The 90-minute event will take place on Wednesday (March 22) at 8PM ET. Tickets are still available at

On the day before the concert, Common will participate in a four hour rehearsal with The National Symphony from 1 to 5PM. Afterwards, Common will participate in an intimate interview at the African Lounge at KC Opera house. Doors will open at 7:30PM, with the interview taking place at 8:30PM.

Common isn’t the first rapper to perform a symphonic treatment of their music. In March 2014, Nas performed Illmatic in its entirety at the Kennedy Center. The event was part of Nas’ tour to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Illmatic. It also helped kick off the 20-day One Mic Hip-Hop Culture Worldwide festival at the Kennedy Center.
