Five Great Yakima Restaurants that have Closed
I have a very nostalgic feeling about almost everything, but one thing I love more than most is places we had in Yakima when I was growing up. Here are a few restaurants that may be gone, but certainly not forgotten.
Royal Fork
40th and SummitviewRoyal Fork was a buffet like no other. Like most other home-style buffets, they had anything you needed. Naturally, as a kid, the best part was the unlimited desserts.
Mr. C's
6th and YakimaI have fond memories of this place. It was located behind the old Talcott's music store where my dad worked so we'd visit this place semi-regularly. They had a room in back where you could celebrate your birthday and even get your own birthday pizza, complete with candle.
Burger Chef
28th and Nob HillThis was my brother's favorite restaurant of all time. Located where Taj Palace currently resides, it was your classic burger joint with awesome fries and killer shakes. I miss this place.
Skippers
24th and Nob HillSkippers isn't gone forever as there are still many Skippers restaurants around including one in Sunnyside. However, all you can eat fish and shrimp is the stuff legends are made of. I loved the fact your meal came with jello, too. This place had great clam chowder which you still can get at a gas station near the Nob Hill freeway exit. Yes, Skipper's branded clam chowder at a gas station -- who knew?
Pasta Pronto!
72nd and TietonI'm sad to put this on the list because it recently closed, but I already miss this place. The Cajun pasta was so good. Nice place, nice location -- gone too soon.
