The Central Washington State Fair is 10 days of fun for all. Although State Fair Park offers secured parking for only $7 (less than other stadiums), there are people who let you park on their lawns or in their lot across the street for $5. I've always wondered how much they can make in a single day, so I put on my investigative reporting hat and started asking the tough questions.

I approached four people within the few blocks facing the fair on Fair Avenue. Three of those four people wouldn't tell me anything. They turned me down politely when I asked if I could get a quick interview with them. I respected that, but I also asked off-camera how much they made in any given day. All three declined to comment.

Then came Omar Williams.

Omar was very nice and helpful and, what's more, his lot is right where the crossing guard is -- so not only do you get a straight shot to the fair's entrance, you get a safe path to cross the street, thanks to the good people with the Central Washington State Fair's safety detail.

I asked Omar how much he could make in a day, at five dollars at a time.

"If we get enough people - $120, $130."

Not bad for a day's work, just hanging out holding out a flag. It was a slow day on this particular day, thanks for the weather, but if you figure about $120 during the 10 days of the fair, you'd be looking at $1,200. Not too shabby.

That's just for the fair. They usually provide this service for concerts and other events at the SunDome, too.

So, if you were wondering how much one could make by just letting people park on their lawn, now you know!
