Yakima residents spoke out Tuesday at the Yakima City Council meeting against ICE-chartered flights that transport undocumented people from the Yakima airport. Those who are detained are held in the Yakima County Jail until they're transported to a detention center in Tacoma.

King County leaders have barred the flights from Boeing Field. So they're now using the Yakima Airport. According to an article in Today's Yakima Herald Republic Yakima City Manager Cliff Moore says the city contract with McCormick Air requires the city to allow the flights.
People shouted "shut it down" before they were gaveled by Mayor Kathy Coffey.

Council member Kay Funk motioned to have the issue of ICE flights added to the next city council agenda for discussion but no other council members seconded her motion.
And despite the city protest the ICE flights continue Today.
