• The U.S. Geological Survey claims a 20-year study shows levels of pesticides continue to be a concern for aquatic life in many of the nation’s rivers and streams in agricultural and urban areas.

The study, spanning from 1992 to 2011 by the U.S. Geological Survey, pointed at runoff from farm fields.

According to the U.S. Geological survey, over half a billion pounds of pesticides are used annually in the U.S. to increase crop production and reduce insect-borne disease, but some of these pesticides are occurring at concentrations that pose a concern for aquatic life.

  • Interbay Food Company, LLC, in Woodinville, Wash., is recalling approximately 4,820 pounds of pork Banger-style sausage products due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen.

The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said the products contain milk, a known allergen, which is not declared on the products’ label. The products were cooked in a Redmond, Wash., restaurant and sold to the general public.

The products were produced using bread crumbs that came from a vendor who listed wheat, soy and milk on the label. Although the label for the bangers listed wheat and soy, it did not list milk as an ingredient.
