Gunfire erupted early Sunday at a West Hollywood nightclub, where three people, including Suge Knight, were hit and taken to the hospital -- but the former  Death Row Records CEO is expected to survive, The Associated Press is reporting.

According to the celebrity gossip website TMZ, around 1:30 a.m. PDT, shots were fired inside the 10AK club, where Chris Brown was hosting a party in advance of tonight's MTV Video Music Awards.

Knight was reportedly shot in the stomach and arm. Eyewitnesses tell TMZ that Knight was able to walk outside of the nightclub on his own, but that a cop spotted his injuries and sent him away in an ambulance. The website says that Knight is currently undergoing surgery.

Two other people -- a man and a woman -- are in the hospital with gunshot wounds, and at least one person is reportedly in critical condition.

Authorities are seeking a suspect, but declined to release additional information because of the ongoing investigation, according to AP reports.

TMZ has posted video of the violent aftermath, as well as the moment that shots were fired inside the club.
