Baseball has rainouts. And sometimes, so do concerts.
For the first time in anybody's memory, Downtown Summer Nights had to fold up its tents, unplug the electronic equipment and let Mother Nature take center stage as a summer squall settled in and shut down Thursday night's show on North Front Street.
Kick back with a cold beverage and enjoy Yakima favorite Blake Noble (and some special friends) -- along with Yakima's own Indigo Kidd -- at this week's (June 30) Downtown Summer Nights concert on historic Front Street. As usual, a range of on-site vendors and restaurants will have excellent food and drinks starting at 5:30 p.m.
Great news for those of us who might be hesitant about going to the Yakima Uncorked Wine & Food Festival because we don't even know what kind of wine is supposed to go with hot dogs: THEY HAVE BEER, TOO!
Union Gap Old Town Days is an excellent celebration. There is so much to do on June 18 at Fulbright Park. The Celebration kicks off at 10 a.m. with the Union Gap Old Town Days parade on Main Street and First.
Here we go! Starting this week, another season of Downtown Summer Nights is set to fill your Thursday evenings with music and laughter all summer! The food will be excellent and so will the drinks! It all starts again this Thursday (June 16) from 5:30-9 p.m. at our new location -- Front Street.
Borrachos Car Club in Toppenish is going to have one amazing classic car and bike show this Saturday (June 11). The car club is really involved with the community, and proceeds from the show will go to the Toppenish Trunk or Treat program.
We have freedom. It makes me happy to say that. However, freedom isn't always free. It comes with a price most of the time. Our United States military have fought to keep us free. We honored them on Monday, Memorial Day, at the Tahoma Cemetery. The ceremony did not leave a dry eye in the area. I started crying when the WWII veteran sang the National Anthem. There were lots of people to honor our military there. It made me proud that they came.
Yakima's Memorial Day parade is this Saturday (May 28), starting downtown at 10 a.m. We would love to see you to show your support for our fallen men and woman of the military and to those you have loved and lost. Here is the parade route.
