Anyone who’s ever taken a long flight and tried to relax while children screamed or ran around may put Malaysia Airlines on a list of favorite companies after the carrier announced it’s now offering child-free spaces on some of its planes.

The airline’s first Airbus A380, which goes into service on July 1 with a flight from Kuala Lumpur to London, will feature an upper-level economy deck where kids under 12 won’t be allowed. The 350 seats on the main deck are being refurbished to be more child-friendly, and the family-friendly area will have eight bathrooms and a dual aerobridge to enable those passengers to board and disembark from the plane more quickly.

Shashank Nigam, CEO of airline branding company SimpliFlying, said, “Malaysia Airlines is trying to make its premium product on the A380 more appealing to the high-yielding business passengers. They value their peace and quiet and [this way] can rest assured that they won’t be disturbed by kids on long-haul flights.”

Malaysia Airlines already reconfigured the first class cabins of its Boeing 747s to no longer accommodate bassinets, which effectively makes that section baby-free as well.

Some people are complaining that the carrier is anti-family, but Suzanne Rowan Kelleher, editor-in-chief of WeJustGotBack.com, said there are already hotels, cruises and resorts that have adult-only spas, pools, fitness rooms and formal restaurants.

“Even Disney Cruise Line does this, much to the delight of adults on board,” said Kelleher.
