American Red Cross Issues Urgent Plea for Blood Donations

The Yakima chapter of the American Red Cross has issued an urgent plea for blood and platelet donations amid local efforts to fight the coronavirus pandemic.

"Right now, eligible and healthy donors are strongly urged to make an appointment to provide lifesaving blood products to patients," a message on the Red Cross's local site says.

Donors are urged to make an appointment online as soon as possible -- or call 1-800-RED-CROSS.
