Marvel has made no secret of making another Black Panther movie. When you have a film as big as the first one, of course you make a sequel. But today at D23 Expo 2019, Marvel officially confirmed the Black Panther sequel — and the official release date of the movie.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige brought out the film’s director Ryan Coogler on the stage at D23 — and together they revealed that the film will come out on May 6, 2022. Feige teased revealing the film’s title (it’s not Black Panther II, although that was what the logo they showed onscreen here at D23 said), the villain, and the opening of the movie — but Coogler said it was too early to talk about any of that.

They did say Coogler did just turn in his treatment for the film (Feige claimed he was holding it on stage) and that they are already hard at work on the sequel. Expect Chadwick Boseman back as Black Panther too.
