New ‘Captain America: Civil War’ Posters Show Off Team Cap
Can you smell that? That’s the fresh scene of a brand new Captain America: Civil War trailer, which is arriving later this week. When? Well, we can’t tell you that yet, but we can tell you in advance of the trailer, there will be a lot of Captain America: Civil War items popping up on the internet this week. Starting with six new Civil War posters highlighting the members of Team Cap.
For those keeping track at home, Team Cap consists of Captain America, Winter Soldier, Falcon, Ant-Man, Hawkeye and Scarlet Witch. Later this week, we’ll also get a batch of Team Iron Man photos with Iron Man, War Machine, Black Widow, Vision and Black Panther. Don’t hold your breath for Spider-Man to get himself a poster, but as I reported last week, Spider-Man was originally in the Captain America: Civil War Super Bowl commercial before being cut at the last second. Could he make his way into the new trailer?
In addition to the six new posters, Marvel also released a new shot of Team Cap advancing on Team Iron Man in the airport fight scene we’ve seen in the trailer and commercials. What’s different about this photo is that Ant-Man is present in this version. If you look closely, a similar version of this shot was included in one of the early trailers, but Ant-Man was not visible. Now, through the magic of visual effects, there he is.
Marvel’s ‘Captain America: Civil War’ finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.
Captain America: Civil War opens in theaters on May 6.
