Does the Alignment of the Planets Make Your Broom Stand Unsupported?

There's a phenomenon going around that says that with help from the planets aligning on this day, you can stand your broom straight up without it leaning against a wall. Have you tried it? Does it work?

Well, to cut to the chase, no. Yes, your broom may stand up by itself, but it's not because of anything about space or magnetic pull or moon gravity or anything like that. Snopes debunked this myth (as well as standing eggs upright) a while back. However, it still comes up about this time every year.
