Dominion Dominates :The Dinos Are Big And So Are The Thrills
Color me nerd, but I love me some dinosaurs!
Jurassic anything..and I'm all in!
Money Making Monsters
I just saw Jurassic: World Dominion, the latest of six in the monster money-making movie franchise. My wife isn't a movie fan, but she went with me and my daughter as a Father's Day gesture of goodwill, and she really enjoyed it. Kate and I loved it.
As a kid, I thought I wanted to be a paleontologist and I knew my dinos by name and time period. What I didn't know then is just how big of a business the dinosaur world would become.
A Top Ten Franchise
As of 2021, The Jurassic Park franchise consisted of these five films:
- Jurassic Park...
- The Lost World: Jurassic Park. ...
- Jurassic Park III. ...
- Jurassic World. ...
- Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom....
Billions With A "B" Like In Brontosaurus
The first three films in the series were released between 1993 and 2001, starring Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum.
A new trilogy starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas-Howard, which takes place years later, launched in 2015.
These movies combined are the 10th highest-grossing franchise of all-time earning a ridiculous 4.99 billion dollars worldwide.
The 6th and final episode, Jurassic World: Dominion, combines both casts and has earned $622.2 million in its first ten days of worldwide release.
Caustic Crtics
Again, I loved it, but the collective of critics chiming in at Rotten Tomatoes didn't.(30%) But what do they know, when 78% of audiences really liked it.
Frederico Furzan at Rotten Tomatoes - An ugly franchise entry that feels like a contractual obligation by an employee full of hatred. Easily the worst film in the JP universe. : 1.75/4
Alejandro Turdo at Rotten Tomatoes - Dominion closes the Jurassic World saga worse than expected, wasting legacy characters and trying to squeeze two movies into one, but having none of them focusing on the core elements that made this saga great. A trilogy dumbed down to unexpected levels...: 4/10
Off To An Excellent Start
I guess it's the critic's job to criticize but for the rest of us, we go for the thrills, chases, surprises, the dino revenge, and the good guys winning ...and that's all there, and $622 million made so far confirms that!.
Critic Victor Lopez got it - Two and a half hours of the purest adventure with no filters, no breaks, and with a heart as big as the head of a T-Rex
So Go See It!
Better keep an eye on that doomsday clock.
