Downtown Summer Nights Moves to Front Street in 2016
It might not seem like it just yet, but it won't be long until we'll all be chilling on another one of those Downtown Summer Nights that help make Yakima such a great place to be.
And this year, the annual summerlong event will be even better -- it's moving to Front Street!
Don't worry, though. We're still counting on a few hours -- from 5-9 p.m. every Thursday, starting June 16 -- of music, food and cool beverages each week. Welcome back to Downtown Summer Nights, presented by event sponsor Stewart Subaru!
Other than the venue, it'll be the same drill: We'll close down Front Street off Yakima Avenue to make room for all kinds of vendors (including a variety of local foods), a beverage garden, picnic tables and plenty of spaces to kick off your shoes and kick up your heels. And thanks to Yakima Neighborhood Health, kids can play, too: They're providing a free space with hands-on activities just for youngsters.
Lots of other people help make Downtown Summer Nights happen, too. In addition to the city of Yakima, there's Legends Casino (which sponsors the stage), the Memorial Foundation (which provides a cooling station) and US Cellular (which supplies a cellphone charging station).
