If you are looking for a spot to take your kids swimming that is actually open and socially distanced during the COVID-19 pandemic Phase 3 or whatever we are in at the moment, look no further than the YMCA Aquatic Center.

Today I went to the YMCA Aquatic Center with my 10-year-old daughter Willow and she was a baby hot mess. I asked her to take a picture of me and she took anything BUT! I was sitting there in one of those 1970s lime green chairs trying to look cute for all the single older gentlemen with money who might be present and there she was taking wild pics of me looking disastrous! She thought it was SO FUNNY and was laughing her tiny little behind off whilst she snapped pics of me (and everything else that I didn't' ask for)! See the pictures she took of me below as I prove my one of my two points.

My other case in point: You used to have to book a family swim appointment online but you don't have to do that anymore. There are three allotted swim sessions that are open to the public. I can't remember all of them but I think the first one starts at 3:15. The sessions last for an hour and a half and will abruptly end no matter when you arrived during the open session. So say one of the sessions begins at 6:30 p.m. and you arrive at the spot around 7:45, you would only get to swim until the session is over at 8:15 p.m. No ifs, ands, or buts!

Fortunately for my kiddo, Willow, I have the memory of a gnat so I thought the session began at 6:15 p.m. We arrived at 6:23 p.m. but the last evening session actually started at 6:30 p.m., so we were early and not late like I had thought! We both had a blast in the pool, on the blue and green water slides, and the hot tub until about 8 p.m. which was when I had lost my patience for the day.

I know you are dying to take your kids back to the Aquatic Center so to get more info on the public swim times click here.
