The historic Capitol Theatre is opening its doors for a special “Restoration Sneak Peek” event on June 15th, offering everyone an exclusive inside look at the big plans to preserve and modernize the local cultural landmark.

ATTEND WHEN YOU WANT IT'S AN OPEN HOUSE

According to a press release the free, open-house-style event invites you to explore the theatre at your own pace through a series of informational stations.
Capitol Theatre staff and volunteers will be there to answer questions, share historical insights, and provide detailed information about the upcoming restoration project.

LOTS OF INFORMATION PICTURES READY FOR YOU

If you attend you'll have access to visual renderings, project displays, and plans that show the vision for the theatre’s future as the campaign for “Your Capitol Theatre” gains support. The press release says the Capitol Theatre has long served as the heartbeat of the Yakima Valley. It's home to three nonprofit organizations that bring "diverse performances, educational programs, and cultural experiences to the region." To make sure the theatre continues its important role for generations to come, the Capitol Theatre Committee is launching the restoration and modernization effort, along with a major fundraising campaign.

ENHANCING THE HISTORIC CHARACTER OF THE THEATER

“The Capitol Theatre stands in Yakima as a monument to a prosperous and inspired past,” says Susie Temple, Chair of the Capital Campaign Committee.
She says the planned project aims to enhance both the historic character and functionality of the theatre, with improvements on both sides of the stage curtain. Theater officials say the updates will "elevate the experience for audiences and artists alike, while safeguarding the building’s architectural legacy."
