With spring fast approaching and forecasts calling for warmer, drier conditions, fire officials say it's more important than ever to prepare for wildfire season. Remember last year? 2025 was a rough fire season in Central Washington and this year fire officials expect a dry forest and challenging fire season.

YOU LIVE IN A FIRE PRONE AREA? GET PREPARED NOW

Firefighters say as we look forward to sunshine and outdoor activities, wildfire prevention and preparedness must remain a top priority.
Your power could go out depending upon where the wildfires happen this fire season just like last year and Pacific Power officials say they're prepared. The company turns off power in specific areas where a wildfire is "creating safety hazards and an increased risk of additional ignitions when facilities are energized." It's a precaution taken by Pacific Power to prevent more fires. It's the same action the company will take this wildfire season.

EVERYONE NOT JUST THOSE WHO LIVE NEAR THE FOREST

Fire officials say it's not just those who live near the forest that need to be concerned about a wildfire because the fires happen even in areas within city limits.
Some recommendations for everyone this upcoming season.

Reduce risk:

Clear fuel sources such as dead vegetation away from your home and other structures.
Engage in a local community cleanup day.
Practice proper fire safety daily to prevent accidental fires.
Use fire resistant construction.
Remain informed of emergency alerts.
