
Yakima Gas Prices Skyrocket: Average gas prices up 6.5 cents
Drivers in Yakima are feeling the pinch at the pump as gas prices continue their upward trend, according to a recent report from GasBuddy.

They advise drivers to consider filling up on Mondays to avoid paying more later in the week. GasBuddy's survey of 91 stations in Yakima shows the average price of gasoline has increased by 6.5 cents per gallon in the last week, reaching $3.83 today. The increase follows a 14.3-cent rise the previous week. Prices are up 29.4 cents per gallon from a month ago and 21.9 cents per gallon higher than this time last year.

The national average price of diesel has also seen a slight increase, rising 0.8 cents in the last week to $3.63 per gallon. Washington State's average price today is currently $4.14 per gallon.

You'll find the cheapest gas in the valley at the Wolf Den in Wapato selling for $3.30 per gallon. It's $3.45 per gallon at the Costco and Ahtanum Fuel Stop in Union Gap. Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, attributes the recent surge in prices to factors affecting the West Coast.
"The national average has inched higher, driven primarily by sharp gas price increases on the West Coast, where refinery maintenance and outages have created a ripple effect in neighboring states, pushing prices higher in many communities."
