
Yakima’s Shreds and Meds Event Supports K-9 Officers Luka and Scout
It's time for the annual Shreds and Meds event coming up next month in which you can help local K-9 Officers. Your chance comes this Saturday, October 25 to dispose of old medications and important documents that need to be shredded.
TWO SPECIAL GUESTS AT THE YAKIMA EVENT
The annual event is hosted by Safe Yakima Valley in partnership with Yakima County Crime Stoppers and the Yakima County Sheriff's Office. The Shreds and Meds event will be held from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Greater Yakima Chamber of Commerce (10 N 9th St Yakima). Two special guests are expected to attend the Yakima event. K-9 Officers Luka and Scout, the Yakima County Department of Corrections K-9's.

YOUR DONATIONS WILL HELP K-9 OFFICERS
All donations raised during the event will be given to support Luka and Scout's needs.
You can start preparing now by getting all your outdated financial records including old bank statements, old checks, old credit card statements and other items that contain personal and financial information ready to be shredded. Material is limited to a maximum two banker boxes or three grocery bags.
DISPOSE THOSE OUTDATED OR OLD MEDS
Outdated prescriptions? You can turn in your unused, expired prescription medications for safe disposal. No limits on amount of medications to return and dispose. Officials ask that your shredded items and medicine are clearly separated.
There is no cost for the service but officials at the even will gladly accept donations to the K-9 Officers.
SPECIAL EVENT PLANNED FOR GRANDVIEW
There's also an event planned on October 25 in Grandview. It's a drug take-back event from 10:00 am to 2;00 pm at the Pumpkin Palooza in downtown in Grandview.
If you're in Grandview they'll be giving away medication locking bags as well as free pistol storage boxes for those who bring outdated or expired medications to the event.
