The Yakima Valley Quilters Guild is hosting a four-week class where you can learn basic sewing skills and how to make your very own four-patch quilt!

Learn How to Quilt in Four Weeks at the Yakima Library

Part of the quilt guild's mission is to continue the tradition and love for quilting in the Valley, which is why volunteers from the guild are excited to present their latest round of sewing classes to the public.

I've been a member of the guild for a couple of years now and I remember fondly my first Quilter's Academy class. They taught us how to make a quilted table runner. I was so proud of it, I entered it into the county fair that fall (and got a participation ribbon, thank you very much)!

Classes Start Soon

Registration is required because there are only a few spots left, but since a lot of people don't even know about this fun opportunity, I wanted to make sure I could help spread the word.

The Quilter's Academy class will run for 3 hours on August 3, 10, 17, and 24 at the Richard E. Ostrander Library in West Valley (223 S 72nd Ave) in Yakima.

Techniques include accurate seam width, strip piecing, four patches, adding borders, straight line quilting, and binding by machine. - Yakima Valley Quilters Guild

You'll be responsible to bring your own sewing machine, fabric, threads, quilt batting, scissors, paper, and a pen.
