Comedian Nate Jackson Roasts the Yakima Valley at Legends Casino Hotel (Review)
T'was a night to remember. Did you go to the show? What jokes made you laugh out loud? I snortled an awful lot and probably annoyed the couple sitting next to me in Section E. If that was you, I'm so sorry for the spittle!
First of all, it was a SOLD-OUT show at Legends Casino Hotel Events Center. The audience of people ages 18 and up got to their seats early, not wanting to miss anything in case there was a pre-show or an opening act.
Who is Nate Jackson?
It stuns me the amount of people who didn't know that Nate Jackson had his own comedy club in Tacoma. He would bring in all the heavy hitter names that I wistfully wish I could make the 2-hour trek over to the Westside to see (because they NEVER come over here to the Yakima Valley).
The club closed and then got resurrected to life like rising ashes out of a phoenix. News Tribune reports his Super Funny Comedy Club 2.0 is getting a second wind at the Marriott on Commerce St. beginning in April 2025.
Nate Jackson Roasts Yakima Valley @Legends Casino Hotel (Review)
After won a few bucks on the slot machines and scarfed down some fish & chips in the Legends Casino Food Court, I got to my seat just in time to hear the DJ screaming in the mic that Nate Jackson was backstage, and ready to roast us all. The crowd was hype. The outfits were stepped up a notch. Some people even showed up in their dollar-store business-casual flannel best. (I kid, I kid. Everybody was lookin' fly tonight!)
What gets me was the people sitting all along the front rows who didn't expect to get roasted by Nate. Even I know better than to sit in the front rows at a COMEDY show--you will get picked on first, second, third, and last!
I love how he informed us we had to leave our kind hearts at the door because we were all in "the roast zone."
He cracked up the audience with his revelation that he has 2 gym memberships but hasn't been to the gym in 4 years.
When he wrapped up his hilarious comedy set, he began to pick on people sitting in the front rows. One of his first victims was a guy named "Luna", as well as a former basketball coach who said his name was "Mr. Money", and a retired couple in their 70s.
The highlight for me was a middle-aged guy sitting near the front row who had come from the Tri-Cities with his wife to see Nate's show. When Nate asked him what was the secret to his 15-year marriage, the guy replied, "Love."
Nate told him that was like saying the secret to making money is, "Money." He called him all kinds of dumb for that answer and the crowd nearly fell out of their seats. I was one of those people!
It was a fun show!
Nate is going to be a guest character in the upcoming reboot of The Office. I can't wait to watch it!
